The pond owl

A barred owl perched on a kayak at the farm pond

We keep a kayak on the water. One afternoon a barred owl decided it was the best perch on the place.

We didn't stage it. We were just there, and so was the owl, and the lily pads were doing what they do in Florida heat.

Days around here are often like that. Hive work. Eggs. Mowing. And then something walks, swims, or lands in the yard as if it has always belonged.

That's life between the lakes.
