Frames in the yard

Hive days look like this: a frame lifted, bees covering the comb, and a little patience in the Florida sun.

We keep our own apiary here and manage the colonies ourselves. Some days are inspections. Some days are just making sure everyone is still making a living.

The forage around Lutz changes with the bloom. What the bees bring in is whatever Florida is offering that week — wildflowers, trees, whatever is in season along the lakes and the neighborhoods beyond the fence.

We don't pretend every inspection is a harvest. Most of beekeeping is looking, learning, and leaving them to it.
