Twenty-one chickens live in the yard at Rustin Farms. The hens are the ones we love. "Cash", named for Johnny Cash, is sure the yard belongs to him.

The girls
We love our girls.
They are underfoot in the yard, talking in the shade, and following whoever is carrying the bucket. Some are bold. Some keep their own counsel. All of them have a place in the day.
This is a small flock on a Florida homestead. Dust baths, nesting boxes, a broody hen who will not be reasoned with, and an evening lock-up when the light goes.

"Cash"
Named for Johnny Cash. He has the comb, the voice, and a very firm opinion about who is in charge of the yard. The girls put up with him. Mostly.
Mornings start when "Cash" says they do. Evenings end when the flock decides they are done listening.
